Mathis completed his PhD in French psycholinguistics at the University of Bern in 2023. As part of the Discovering Discourse project, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, he studied the acquisition and use of French discourse connectives as a second language from a cognitive perspective. Since then, Mathis has been working at swissuniversities, the umbrella organisation of the Swiss universities, where he is involved with the Chambers of universities, universities of applied sciences and arts, and universities of teacher education. In this role, he supports coordination and collaboration among the different types of higher education institutions, contributing to the development and strengthening of the Swiss research and higher education landscape.
