For me, social value is what serves the long-term survival and further development of humanity. Our best tools to strive for knowledge and progress are the modern sciences. However, we cannot understand the world with data alone. Only the classification in a world view gives meaning to human knowledge. This also includes understanding, defending and, where necessary, adapting social values. My involvement with Reatch is intended to help ensure that scientific knowledge takes a strong stand in decision-making situations.
