1. Talk: MIDATA & Health Data Ownership

Solving 21th-century health problems involves collection and analysis of highly confidential personal data. This personal data is the basis for precision medicine and precision public health. Companies such as Google-owned 23andme or ancestry.com are collecting and selling personal genetic information for profit. This might work as a business model but creates a data-driven socioeconomic asymmetry. In this talk, I will show MIDATA, a way to rebalance this asymmetry by a trust-promoting framework that empowers citizens and benefits society at large.

2. Talk: Virtual Reality and its Applications in Psychology

The development of affordable virtual reality (VR) technologies in recent years has made VR more accessible than ever. While originally popular in the gaming industry, the application of VR technologies in other fields of science is steadily growing. In the field of psychology, many desirable experiments and therapies require cumbersome and time consuming hardware setups or are impossible to set up in reality. In contrast, experimental setups in VR require much less time and offer greater flexibility. In this talk, I will discuss how VR technologies have opened doors for many psychological experiments.
